The Agricultural Business Council of Kansas City will kick off 2026 with its Annual Legal Update on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Lathrop GPM in Kansas City.

This year’s meeting will feature remarks from Kurt Schaefer, Director of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR), and Kathleen Fisher Enyeart, Counsel at Lathrop GPM.

Drawing on his extensive background in environmental law and public policy, Schaefer will provide insights into key regulatory and legal issues impacting Missouri agribusiness. He will also discuss how state and federal environmental policies intersect, offering a forward-looking perspective on how DNR is working with producers and agribusinesses .

Fisher Enyeart, who leads Lathrop GPM’s Executive Order Task Force, will explore how the prolific use of executive orders at the federal level is reshaping the legal landscape. Her discussion will examine the implications of executive authority on businesses, the agricultural sector, and the legal profession, highlighting recent trends and strategies for navigating this increasingly complex area of governance.
