Annual Legal Update

  • Lathrop GPM 2345 Grand, Suite 2200 Kansas City, MO 64108 (map)

The Agricultural Business Council will kick-off 2022 with its annual legal update on Thursday, January 20, at the law offices of Lathrop GPM in downtown Kansas City.

The meeting will feature top experts on three topics that are top-of-mind for many.

  • Cyber security/technology issues.  Speakers will discuss best practices to guard against spoofing/ransomware attacks -- what are the safeguards a prudent person should follow?  How do we protect today’s supply chain from this new threat?  Are your corporate systems secure?

    • Tedrick Housh, Partner, Lathrop GPM

    • Steve Cosentino, Partner, Stinson

    • Megan Belcher, Chief Legal & External Affairs Officer, The Scoular Company

  •  Tax & related matters.  What does the new Biden Administration bode for tax policy and reforms affecting agriculture?  Max Irsik, principal with K-Coe Isom, will share his thoughts on the prospects for change and how such changes might affect agricultural operations.

  • Labor/Immigration.   There are so many aspects to this nettlesome issue, but nearly every segment of the economy seems to be struggling with the labor supply.  These speakers will be discussing different aspects to the immigration dilemma.

    • Gizie Hirsh is a partner with Lathrop GPM where she practices in all areas of business-related immigration law.

    • Michael Lichte, Vice President, Milk Optimization and Customer Relations, Dairy Farmers of America.
